21% of Facebook Users Are Mobile-Only
On Wednesday, Facebook released its financial results for the third quarter of 2013. The social network increased its sales by 60 percent to $2.01 billion compared to last year's September quarter. The company's profit amounted to $425 million. A year earlier, Facebook had posted a $59 million loss.
While Facebook continues to show strong growth in financial terms, the social network's user growth is (somewhat naturally) slowing down a bit. Monthly active users grew 18 percent year-over-year but only 3 percent sequentially. Facebook's mobile-only user base showed the strongest momentum, growing 16 percent between July and September and 1,002 percent since September 2012. By the end of September, 21 percent of Facebook's monthly active users accessed the network exclusively via mobile devices. And, even more impressively, 48 percent of Facebook's users on a given day are mobile-only according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
