Donald Trump
Americans Mainly Dislike Trump Due To His Character
A new Washington Post/ABC News poll put President Trump's approval rating at a historic 70-year low yesterday, amid controversy over his administration's connections with Russia. Why do Americans dislike Trump? Gallup explored this question in a survey late last week, finding that most Americans who disapprove of Trump blame the president's personality and character, rather than the job he is doing.
Among those disapproving of the president, 29 percent felt Trump is not presidential, has a bad temperament, is arrogant or obnoxious. 10 percent said he is inexperienced or doesn't know what he is doing while 7 percent mentioned that he's doing a poor job. 6 percent of Trump's detractors also critized his use of social media, blamed him for not considering people's needs and said he is untrustworthy.
According to Gallup, Trump's unconventional style and non-normative pattern of White House behavior are driving his high disapproval ratings, rather than his policies and views. It is highly unlikely that Trump will change his behavior and unorthodox style, meaning it's also very unlikely that his detractors will change their minds about him, unless he enjoys considerable foreign and domestic success that overshadow his behavior.
