Prime Day
Prime Day Nearly as Big as Cyber Monday for Amazon
Prime Day, Amazon’s self-invented shopping extravaganza for Prime members, is a big success. First “celebrated” in 2015, the day quickly became one of the biggest days of the year for the world’s largest online retailer. According to comScore data, nearly 50 million Americans visited Amazon on Prime Day 2016, putting it on par with Cyber Monday, the largest online shopping day of the year that is not exclusive to Prime members.
Following last year’s Prime Day, Amazon announced that it was the biggest day for the company ever in terms of online sales. This year’s event will last for 30 hours, promising even more deals for customers in the U.S. and 12 other countries. Customers should compare prices before going on a shopping frenzy however. While it’s certainly possible to pick up some bargains on Prime Day, some offers can be found cheaper elsewhere.
