China's importance for Apple
iPhone market
President-elect Donald Trump has announced his intention to try and tempt Apple to return its factories back to the United States, proposing for example tax reductions. If that does not work, he might live up to his threat to implement higher import tariffs on products produced in China. This however might in turn lead to China banning Apple's iPhone from the Chinese smartphone market, a proposition recently suggested in the Chinese state-owned media. This chart shows what is at stake for Apple, which would not want to lose such an important sales market.
