This infographic takes a look at data from Knight Frank which reveals the costs for start-ups which want to be based at the heart of creative districts around the world. One thing that a lot of the most expensive office spaces have in common is those quirky looking fellows you might find in your local organic coffee shop reading a dusty copy of Catcher In The Rye through a monocle. Yes, hipsters are nowadays inextricably linked to many of our creative quarters and this may well be pushing up the rental costs for budding entrepreneurs who want to be where the action is.
Shoreditch in London is one of these districts and is sitting at the top of the price list. For a 600 square foot office there, a start-up can expect costs in the first year to be 51.5 thousand pounds. Over the pond in New York, costs in hipster hotspot Brooklyn aren't too far behind, at 48.4 thousand. Rounding off the top three is Mid-Market in San Francisco with 47.6 thousand. Knight Frank rather recommends using a co-working provider, with potential savings of over 50 percent.
