Murder rates across the world visualised
Earlier this week, 19 people were killed and a further 26 were injured when a man went on a stabbing spree at a care centre for disabled people in Sagamihara near Tokyo. Such events are extremely rare in Japan and the stabbing spree was the country's deadliest mass killing in decades. On average there are 6.2 murders per 100,000 people across the world every year.
