Medical Facilities Have Been Attacked Countless Times In Syria
Since the Syrian Civil War broke out in spring 2011, half a million people are believed to have been killed while entire cities have been obliterated. Throughout the conflict, medical facilities including hospitals, clinics, medical centers and pharmacies have been targeted indiscriminately. The loss of such facilities and the death of medical workers may prove hugely costly in the long run with more people perishing due to a lack of safe areas and medical attention. Research from Physicians for Human Rights has shown that there were 346 attacks on 246 different medical facilities between 2011 and 2015 with the majority of them coming from the Syrian government.
