On September 25, Apple released the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in 12 countries including the United States and China. Within three days, the company managed to sell 13 million phones and after two weeks on sale, the new models accounted for 2.6% of the iPhone’s global installed base. However, the speed of adoption varied greatly across different markets. So where did the iPhone 6s make the biggest splash?
According to statistics by Localytics, an app marketing and analytics company, people in Asia were the quickest to adopt the new models: After just two weeks on sale the new iPhones already accounted for 6% of all iPhones in Japan and for 5.8% of the installed base in Hong Kong. In the United States, where the installed base is arguably much larger, 3.6% of iPhone users had upgraded to the latest models. Interestingly, the iPhone 6s appears to be much more popular than its larger sibling. According to Localytics’ results, the 5.5-inch 6s Plus accounts for less than a third of sales in all 12 launch markets.
