An average of 30,000 people fled their homes every day in 2014 due to conflict and violence around the world. By the end of the year, a record-breaking 38 million people had been displaced within their own country, according to the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC).
77 percent of the world's internally displaced people (IDPs) live in just 10 countries. Syria has the highest number - some 7.6 million. The conflict between the government and Farc rebels has propelled Colombia into second position with 6 million while Iraq had the third highest amount of IDPs - 3.4 million.
