Over three million hybrid vehicles have been sold in the United States since the very first model appeared on the US market all the way back in December 1999. That was the Honda Insight. Today, owners have a much larger choice of hybrids with approximately 40 different vehicles available.
Does it make sense to upgrade, though? If you care about the environment, it's a no-brainer, but what about your wallet? Hybrids are usually more expensive than their conventional counterparts (though the Lincoln MKZ is a notable exception) but they can generate substantial fuel savings each year.
Take the Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium for example. Though it costs almost $2,000 more than its conventional stablemate, the Ford Fusion Titanium FWD, it would result in annual fuel savings of $1,000. In the long run, upgrading can certainly pay off car owners looking to protect the environment (and their wallets!)
