The Levada Center, an independent Russian polling and sociological research organization, has released new data showing that 48 percent of the public would like to see Vladimir Putin remain president after 2024 while 41 percent would not. Support for Putin is flagging among younger Russians, however, with 57 percent of 18-24 year olds saying they would not like to see him remain in office after 2024 compared to just 31 percent who would. By contrast, support for Putin is still strong among older Russians with 59 percent of people aged 55 and over hoping he stays president beyond 2024.
