There’s a strong possibility that either Democrats or Republicans control both the legislative and executive branches after the Nov. 3 election, with polls showing Democrats have the best chance at capturing the White House and Congress. New survey data shows how more people are in favor of having one party control all three levels of federal governance in Washington – as long as it’s their party.
According to a new survey from Gallup, a plurality of 41 percent of respondents said they would rather have the same party controlling the presidency and Congress than different parties. Just 23 percent said they were in favor of different parties controlling both institutions, while 32 percent said they felt there is no difference.
