All 50 states had started reopening but several have now either paused their efforts or started backtracking amid a resurgence in Covid-19 infections. Arizona, California, Texas and Florida had all made u-turns with bars, beaches, cafes, nightclubs and gyms shuttering again by the end of June. By mid-July they had been joined by Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana and Michigan, according to The New York Times.
On the other hand, several states have finished reopenings in July, with the majority of the Midwest now fully open again. East Coast and Mid-Atlantic states are also mostly continuing or have completed reopening, showing how the COVID-19 resurgence in the U.S. has affected the Southern and Western States disproportionally.
