As the pandemic continues to wreak havoc across the United States, it is entirely possible that Americans could have to vote by mail in the 2020 election in November. The issue of vote-by-mail has become increasingly partisan though studies suggest that it doesn't offer either party an advantage.
As the pandemic drags on and the debate grows louder, Gallup has released a new poll showing that the vast majority of Americans, 64 percent, support voting by mail in November. Support is highest among Democrats at 83 percent compared to 40 percent for Republicans. A 68 percent majority of Independents are also behind it.
Younger Americans are far more likely to support voting for mail with 73 percent of respondents aged between 18 and 29 favoring it. Support declines among older Americans with 55 percent of over 65s saying they favor it.
