According to some recent polling by Ipsos, it’s not older people – who are most at risk – but those under the age of 35 who take social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic most seriously. In a survey conducted among 29,000 adults in 15 countries, 82 percent of 18-35 year-olds said they were self-isolating, opposed to 75 percent of 35-44 year-olds and 76 percent of 45-74 year-olds.
Women were also 5 percentage points more likely to follow the practice, with 80 percent of women across the board saying they were following social distancing. Among the countries with the most women saying they would self-isolate are some whose leaders have not yet, or only recently, called on residents to do so – namely Russia and Brazil.
