NBA superstar LeBron James and rookie phenom Zion Williamson squared off against each other for the first time on February 25, ending in LeBron’s Lakers edging out a close win over Zion’s Pelicans. While LeBron scored 40 points, Zion continued his historic rookie streak with 29 points, capping off one of the best 13-game starts for a rookie, ever.
Since beginning his season at the end of January following an injury, Williamson has exploded in 13 games with over 23 points per game, hitting his shots at over 57 percent accuracy. What may be even more interesting is that he’s doing all of this on limited minutes, playing only 28 a game.
Williamson has already drawn comparisons with LeBron James as the next great player of the league. While still a very small sample size, comparing Williamson’s first 13 games with James’ already shows evidence that Williamson is on the right track.
