K-Pop supergroup BTS is very good at churning out albums, so their 2020 releases, Map of the Soul: 7 and Be, were already their 12th and 13th studio albums. While it was rumored that the number seven in the first album title referred to the seven band members, the group has said it stands for the seven years the band has been in existence.
The group's previous release, Map of the Soul: Persona (technically an EP) was BTS's most successful release to-date. The album sold more than 5 million physical copies (including compilations and singles converted into album equivalents) and reached an equivalent of almost 8 million sales when making into account streaming and downloads. BTS's first 2020 release, Map of the Soul: 7, has been their third most popular so far, behind 2016 release Wings, according to observers at Chartmasters. Figures for the newest album, Be, are not yet available from the source.
