If the 2020 presidential election were held today, President Donald Trump might be leaving the White House. According to a new survey conducted by Morning Consult, where more than 35,000 people were polled, all the top Democratic nominees beat Trump. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who hasn't qualified for any of the DNC debates, holds the best chance of winning the presidency, the poll revealed.
With 47 percent, Bloomberg was the most popular candidate when pitted against Trump. Former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg was in the bottom with 42 percent, but still pulled ahead of Trump, who only received 41 percent of the hypothetical vote.
While he might not have the polling averages to appear on the debate stage, Bloomberg is shelling millions of dollars into his campaign. Most recently, the billionaire announced he would pay influencers $150 to say nice things about him on Instagram, according to The Daily Beast. The Bloomberg campaign would like influencers to create content “that tells us why Mike Bloomberg is the electable candidate who can rise above the fray, work across the aisle so ALL Americans feel heard & respected.” The pitch adds: “Are you sick of the chaos & infighting overshadowing the issues that matter most to us? Please express your thoughts verbally or for still image posts please overlay text about why you support Mike.”
Bloomberg, who has as net worth of more than $61 billion, has been accused of buying his way into the presidential race. He has spent over $300 million on advertising since he announced his campaign in November, the National Review reported.
