Out of the eight countries with the highest share of inhabitants saying that they believe in man-made climate change, six are located in Europe. Greece had the highest share of respondents saying that climate change was happening and that humans were mainly or partly responsible in a recent survey by YouGov. 91 percent of Greeks agreed with the statement, followed by 88 percent in Brazil.
These findings are consistent with a report showing Europe at the forefront of climate change response.
Greece has in fact been no stranger to the effects of climate change. The already warm and dry climate of the Mediterranean country has intensified to include more extremely hot and especially dry episodes. The Greek authorities therefore believe that they will feel the impact of climate change in the country sooner rather than later. Tourism and agriculture, both important sectors to the country's economy, are expected to be impacted.
