TikTok is exploding all over the world, but no more so than in India. The video-sharing app was downloaded more than 26.5 million times in September, according data by Sensor Tower, cited by the Wall Street Journal on November 14. In the same time frame, TikTok was downloaded 4.6 million times in the U.S. India has continued to be the most popular place for TikTok in 2019. The app was downloaded 15.7 million times in April and 32.3 million times in January.
The wildly popular app, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has recently come under fire in the U.S. as senators are concerned about potential national security risks. U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Tom Cotton called for an intelligence probe into the company, Reuters reported on October 24.
