A slight majority of Americans approve of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, according to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll of 900 people in the U.S., conducted October 27 to October 30, 2019. 53 percent of respondents said they approved and 44 percent of respondents said they disapproved of Congress' inquiry into the president's discussion with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25. Three percent of those polled were not sure.
Trump is accused of withholding nearly $400 million in military aid to Ukraine and refusing to meet the country’s leader unless Ukraine agreed to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, one of Trump’s political rivals in the 2020 presidential election. Trump denies any wrongdoing, saying there was no bribery or extortion.
