Snapchat released its political ad library this week that provides advertising information as the company looks to become a bigger part of the 2020 race. The ad archive provides names, addresses, payment information, and impressions for organizations that pay for politically motivated advertising on the platform.
The United States spends the most on political advertising on Snapchat, with campaigns spending over a half a million on political ad spending so far this year. Political groups in Canada spent about $469,766 on ads, while German political groups shelled out around $29,000 throughout 2019.
Snapchat has launched a mobile news channel on its platform for the 2020 campaign as the social media site attempts to be relevant for this election cycle. Last year was a tough year for the company, as daily active users decreased. Snapchat is looking to politics to engage users further as they rebound from its tough financial year.
