Kids are truly South Korea's YouTube stars - and some parents are making good money showcasing their kids on the video sharing platform.
When news broke last week that the parents of YouTube child star Boram were buying a 9.5 billion won (US$ 8 million) house in a posh Seoul neighborhood, the reactions ranged from envy to allegations of child abuse. 6-year-old Boram has her own channel on which she tests out toys and enlightens viewers by being a cute child. In fact there are many pint-sized YouTube personalities trying to copy Boram's success story in South Korea at the direction of their parents, but none come close to the US$7.8 million that her channel is making a year, according to analytics website Social Blade.
That makes Boram Tube ToysReview the 16th highest-grossing YouTube channel in South Korea. All in all, six out of the sixteen highest-grossing channels had to do with kid's content - either videos created for or by kids - including the top 2 positions. Entertainment and KPop channels dominate the rest of the list.
