UK engine manufacturing down in 2019
Manufacturing
A key element of the British car industry is not just the production of cars, but that of engines. In 2018, as of April, over one million were produced in the UK, with almost two thirds being exported. Fast forward to 2019 though, and there has been a significant slump of 11.2 percent to just under 900,000. According to SMMT, plant shutdowns planned to coincide with Brexit is the biggest reason for the downturn in orders.
