More and more women are joining the Bundeswehr

Since the turn of the century, there has been a steady rise in the number of women joining the German military. Back in 2000, the share of women in the Bundeswehr was just 1.4 percent and in 2018, the share grew to 12.1 percent. Out of 181,274 troops in total, 21,931 are women. Many of them, 8,150, are assigned to the medical corps while 3,275 are career soldiers.
