As President Trump wraps up his second year in the White House, the Washington Post’s fact checkers have been hard at work to stay on top of their Fact Checker database. The Post registered a notable uptick in the misleading and false claims the president has made in his second year. Throughout his whole presidency, Trump has made 8,158 false or misleading claims. Three out of every four untruths the president has ever spoken or tweeted during his presidency has happened in his second year in office.
Part of the second-year spike came around the midterm elections with Trump making over 1,000 misleading or false claims in the month directly before the midterms.
