A Sutton Trust report released today has revealed that just eight schools and colleges had more students accepted to Oxbridge than three quarters of all other schools. Unsurprisingly, most of these eight schools were fee-paying independent schools. As further figures from the report show, of Russell Group and Sutton Trust 30 universities, Oxford was the least state school-friendly institution in 2016-17, with 58 percent of entrants coming from the public education system. Cambridge had a slightly better 63 percent. At the other end of the scale, 98 percent of entrants to Queen's University Belfast were from state schools.
