The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) recently released the results of their latest research into podcasts at OzPod 2018, providing insight into podcast listening behaviour in Australia. The report reveals that podcasts are on the rise in Australia, with 59 percent of respondents saying they are listening to more podcasts this year. An increased awareness of what is available is the main driving factor behind the growth of podcasts, while more than half of all respondents believe that podcasts offer better content than what is otherwise available.
As well as identifying the key driving factors, the report also looks at who is listening to podcasts in Australia. According to the ABC 65 percent of podcast listeners are female, 78 percent of listeners choose to listen at home, and 33 percent prefer to listen to Australian podcasts. Podcast listeners are also highly engaged with the content, with an average of 79 percent of podcasts listened to in the week before the survey, being listened to all the way through.
