How Brits see Londoners (and how they see themselves)
United Kingdom
According to a new survey commissioned by Mile End Institute and Centre for London, the majority of people in Britain are proud to have London as their capital city. It's a complex relationship though, with 'expensive', 'crowded' and 'chaotic' some of the most cited words that non-Londoners say best describe the city. When it comes to the views about Londoners themselves, the picture is also largely negative. As our chart shows, after 'diverse', 'arrogant' and 'insular' were the most common words chosen to describe those living in the capital. Londoners themselves feel differently of course, with 'normal', 'liberal' and 'freindly' scoring highly behind 'diverse'.
