Germany's unequal Kita fees
Germany
If you're planning on moving to Germany with your young family, bear in mind that daycare fees vary extensively across the country. Known as a kita in Germany, a daycare center consumes the most household net income in the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein. Research from the Bertelsmann Stiftung found that 9 percent of a family's income has to be set aside for daycare there. By contrast, the kita will only consume 1.8 percent of household income in the capital.
