This statistic shows information on the educational background and age of internet users in Germany in 2014. During the survey period it was found that 66 percent of respondents aged 35 years and older with a mittlere Reife level degree used the internet at home, at work or elsewhere. In total, 78 percent of Germans stated to use the internet on a regular basis.

In German secondary education the Gymnasium prepares students for higher education, such as a university degree, and finishes after year 12 or 13 (Hochschulreife). The Realschule, designed for intermediate students, has a wider spectrum of emphasis and is completed after year 10 (mittlere Reife). The Hauptschule is meant to train students for vocational education and ends after year 9 (Hauptschulabschluss).
