Canadian consumers’ love of the fermented grape beverage has no doubt contributed to its growing retail sales. In 2018, sales of wine amounted to approximately 10.62 billion U.S. dollars in Canada and are forecast to reach around 13.23 billion dollars by 2022.

Over one quarter of respondents claimed that red was their favorite type of wine to drink in a recent survey. Just over 21 percent of Canadians preferred white, whilst 10 percent liked red and white wine equally. When buying wine, price is the leading purchase criterion, followed by recommendations from friends and family and the country of origin. Of those consumers who have a preferred wine origin , Canadian wine is the most popular and European ranked in second place.
