Italy: music TV channels 2018, by region
Italy counts 19 television channels broadcasting Italian music. Most of them have their headquarters in Lombardy and Lazio, which count five music channels each. This is mainly due to the fact that most of the private and public networks are located in Rome and Milan, the two main Italian cities.

In general, Italian TV channels went through significant changes over the last years. Only to give an idea, the number of channels in standard definition decreased from 325 in 2013 to 313 in 2016. The number of music TV channels is unlikely to increase, also because music and entertainment videos moved online. The record labels now upload their videos on You Tube reaching new audiences. In Italy, Warner Music is the leading entertainment channel on YouTube with about four billion views as of September 2019.

Even the radio industry gained larger audiences through online channels. Music radios performed quite well: Radio Italia, a radio playing exclusively Italian pop music, reported the highest number of views on YouTube with 59 million views.
