Sales of truck OEMs in Western Europe 2015
The statistic depicts the unit sales of truck manufacturers in Western Europe in 2015. Daimler led the ranking at around 64,800 units.
Truck brands’ market share in Western Europe
The Western European truck manufacturing industry has been in consolidation for the best part of 15 years now. The heavy commercial vehicle manufacturing market in Western Europe is dominated by German brands, including Volkswagen’s MAN and Scania, as well as Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz. Almost every fourth truck sold in Western Europe in 2013 came equipped with a Mercedes-Benz star logo attached to the front grille.
After selling its passenger vehicle business to Ford* in 1999, Sweden’s Volvo emerged as a major player in the European truck manufacturing market. Other products manufactured by the Gothenburg-based company include buses and construction equipment. Furthermore, the Volvo Group has been the parent company of Renault Trucks since 2001. Volvo sold around 46,000 heavy-duty trucks in 2015, while Renault shipped about 40,400 such vehicles to customers in Western Europe.
