The monthly expenditure on domestic holiday travel in Great Britain generally shows similar yearly trends over the period from January 2017 to December 2019. A higher proportion of holiday spending occurs within Great Britain in the summer months, particularly in August. In 2019 around 2.5 billion British pounds were spent in August, compared to 2.4 billion during the same period a year earlier.

The source adds the following: "Please note that the latest 2019 results are provisional and subject to minor changes in subsequent months due to the inclusion of trip-takers returning from late trips. Pre-2019 results are based on full-year data so will not change."
** Interviewing is carried out every week of the year using a face-to-face methodology. Annually, some 100,000 respondents are contacted, and any who have returned from an overnight trip within the past four weeks are asked to describe the details of that trip.
