Age profile of household tenure groups in England 2023
Outright owners 65 years and over was the largest household tenure group in England in 2023 with 5.3 million households falling in this group. Buying a home with a mortgage was most prevalent among people aged 45 to 54 with 2.2 million falling in it. This accounts for approximately 30 percent of those buying a home with mortgage in England in 2023.
