Premature deaths related to air pollution in Bosnia & Herzegovina 2021, by pollutant
Exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations above the WHO AQ guideline was attributable to roughly 9,000 premature deaths in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2021. Sarajevo – Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital – was the most polluted capital city in Europe in 2022. A high number of air pollution-related premature deaths in the Western Balkan region are attributable to coal power plants.
