In 2021, most refugees and asylum seekers in Kenya were minors. There were approximately 288,000 minors compared to 252,000 adults, which made a difference of approximately 36,000. This same trend was observed in the years under review. In 2017, there was the largest gap between the number of minors and the number of adult refugees and asylum seekers.
