Number of refugees and asylum seekers in Kenya 2017-2021, by gender
In 2021, most refugees and asylum seekers in Kenya were men. There were approximately 276,400 men compared to 263,700 women. This trend was observed in most of the years under review, except for 2017. The population of refugees and asylum seekers grew by seven percent in 2021 compared to the previous year, with men constituting 51 percent of the total.
