The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit the museum industry hard. Many organizations had to close to the public due to lockdowns and strict safety regulations put in place to contain the health emergency. According to a May 2020 study focusing on the COVID-19 impact on museums in the United Kingdom (UK), about six in ten surveyed museum professionals believed that the pandemic heavily impacted the ticket income. Meanwhile, 36 percent of respondents claimed that the crisis strongly affected loans and exhibition content.
