Distribution of regular NISA accounts in Japan 2023, by age group
As of the end of March 2023, account holders aged 70 to 79 accounted for 21.1 percent of regular NISA accounts in Japan, of which there were around 10.9 million. NISA, short for Nippon Individual Savings Account, was first introduced in 2014 and offers tax exemptions on investments as an incentive for consumers to build assets through investments.
