Electricity output by major power during the Second World War 1940
In 1940, the U.S. electricity production was roughly three times higher than that of Germany, which had the highest production in Europe. When population sizes are compared, the U.S. population was more than double that of Germany, but still smaller than that of the USSR, meaning that the proportional differences in per capita production of electricity was even greater.
