Labor freedom sub-score of Egypt on the Economic Freedom Index 2005-2020
In 2020, the labor freedom sub-score on the Economic Freedom Index for Egypt was 51.5. This was a slight decline of 0.1 points from 2019. From 2005 to 2020, the sub-score fluctuated between 43.3 points in 2013 and 62.2 points in 2008. The Egyptian labor freedom value surpassed the world average between 2006 to 2008 while was equal to it in 2009. In comparison to the African continent average, the Egyptian sub-score was higher from 2005 to 2009. According to the index, labor freedom in Egypt was considered "mostly unfree" as of 2020.
