Global online population following gaming influencers 2021, by gaming frequency
A global online user survey found that avid gamers were more likely to follow gaming influencers than casual gamers. As of July 2021, 20 percent of respondents who played video games for at least 11 hours per week followed gaming influencers like Twitch streamers or YouTubers, whereas only 15 percent of overall gaming audiences (with at least one hour of gaming per week) did the same. Gamers from India, Indonesia, and China were most enthusiastic about following gaming influencers, with approximately a quarter of all gamers and around 30 percent of avid gamers doing so.
